WHEN THEY SEE US

The movie was based on a true story. The Netflix series recounts the five young boys Raymond Santana, 14, Kevin Richardson, 14, Antron McCray, 15, Yusef Salaam, 15, and Korey Wise, 16 who were falsely accused of the crime.

A result of coerced confessions landed the boys behind bars, each serving between six and 13 years.

The series has four parts.

In four episodes,  it provides the account of the impact of the case on the lives of the defendants and their families.

The last episode focuses on Korey Wise and the episode exposes the horrors children experience when they are locked up with adults.

When They See Us should inspire people to recognize that crime-control policies and the racist ideas behind them must change.

I cried a few times. I watched the series twice.  It might be hard to watch, but it’s a must see

Foam Roller Set

Foam rollers for the win!

I only had 4 hours to make something happen. Imagine if I set them overnight. Honestly, I’m not sure if I would like them just yet due to my length. One thing I learned is that you don't have to start with wet hair.

I achieved this set by spritzing water and oil to my locs.

3 hours later I loved my results.

The curls were loose enough for the evening. I only wanted this style for one night anyways ☺️

Month 10 Loc Update

Month 10 was hard ...

Mentally๐ŸŒธ I was dealing with the death of my brother and I didn’t want nothing to do with hair. I ended up setting up the ๐ŸŽฅ camera and ring light to film some content.

Styling hair and doing others hair comes natural to me. I wanted to be a beautician at one point of time. I’ve been playing in my hair and doing others hair since I was a little girl.๐ŸŒธ

Although I had a lot going on this month I would spritz my locs with water and go back to my sad space. I did the retwist a few days before the funeral. I wore a scarf or bonnet all day; which is actually completely normal lol

(Almost done)

Hope you enjoy the footage๐ŸŒธ If anything this video gives you comparison shots of the stages of locs.

Washing my Locs

I wash my locs very often.

@Kinkycurlycoil

I don’t wash them everyday of course, but when they feel dirty I have no problem rinsing them with water  ONLY or washing them with actual shampoo. After I wash my locs I apply oil to my edges, hair and scalp. No particular order lol. I haven’t did any research on how often you should wash your locs because I feel that everyone hair is different.

The same rules applied when I was a loose natural. I listened to my hair and adjust accordingly. I allow my scalp to signal a wash day. My wash days are impromptu. My retwist are no longer planned out.  I apply the same rule to my daughter locs.  Sometimes she washes her locs without my permission, but I totally understand lol it feels AMAZING when water hits your locs and scalp! ๐ŸŒธ
