1 month Starter Loc Retwist

1 month into my loc journey!

I'm excited because years ago two strand twist (starter locs) would last 3 days max.

In my city there are Locticians, however I felt confident with doing my retwist.

It's not often that I allow anyone in my hair, so I pretty much knew that I would do my retwist lol.

 Olive oil
This has been my favorite oil lately.

I'm still undecided with what products I want to use for my retwist

What I used on my retwist:

As of now I am loving the products  I used for my retwist. I've heard that Murray's Gel Loc-Lock isn't the best product to use, but as of now it's working. Plus I use a very small amount of product. Check out my results in the video below:

Do you have locs?  Thinking about starting your loc journey?

Week 2 and 3 Starter Locs

My two strand twist starter locs are still installed! For style I just pull my hair to the side. I spritz my hair with water πŸ’¦ daily.  I'm loving the low maintenance life.

I couldn't wait to wash my hair! I found any excuse to do it! Icing from my daughter's birthday cake was a great excuse lol

If I could wash my hair every day I would, but that's a NO

I used the Mane Choice "Give it to me Straight Shampoo and no conditioner. I used the shampoo because it's the only shampoo in my home. However, it works great for build up.

After washing my hair I did apply Curls "Blueberry" Leave-In and  and extra virgin olive oil. allowed my hair to dry overnight.

If I'm not going anywhere; I don't pin my starter locs. I allow them to be freeI don't want to cause any tension. I need them to flourish ok :)

Check out my video! I have a mini wash cam!

Week 1 Starter Locs

Week 1

What could you possibly say after only having Starter Locs in for one weekπŸ˜…

As stated in the video below:

This could've easily been a twist out!

However, I'm still on this journey. When I was a loose hair natural I would wear two strand twist  for a few days, because I was obsessed with a twist out.  Rocking my Starter Locs has truly been a relief!

I didn't have to overthink about styling and I just left my hair alone.

As long as I have my hoop earrings and a bold lip I'm good lol.

Loc Journey

I started my loc journey on October 4, 2017

I've always wanted locs.  For years I've stated that I would wait until I turned 40. I'm a few years shy of that age so why not get started now! πŸ˜‚ I will set another 40 yr old goal.

If you are subscribed to my YouTube channel then you know that I love my loose natural hair. I've tried so many styles! Feel to watch my videos!

Both loose hair and locs require maintenance, but for me loose hair requires more.

Don't quote me! I just started this journey!

So far, I have been enjoying spritzing my hair with water and only applying extra virgin olive oil.

I've heard spritzing with water is both good and bad. πŸ€” I guess I will find out lol.

My loose natural hair makes me want to try and keep up with the latest style and to be honest I'm getting older and I'm not here for it πŸ˜‚ There you have it!

I'm on a new journey

Vlogging ?

Back in 2010 I started making vlogs documenting my family. For me it was natural. I love capturing moments through the lens.  Now it's 2017 and  vlogs are watched more than ever!

(Click to watch my Weekend Vlog)

Why do I vlog

In my early YouTube years, I made vlogs so my family and friends afar could see updates on my family and hair. To this day, this is still a great way for them to keep up.

I love to capture moments of my life. So for me YouTube is storage lol. I don't have enough storage for moments of my life in my phone or memory card. Never go away YouTube lol.

I also like to put positive energy out to others. I want to also be an example to other women and men who are facing relationship issues or divorce and show that life goes on

Keep living , laughing and loving! πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

More vlogs to come!

Keyshia Cole Talks Custody : KCC thoughts

Celebrity or not custody is no joke.  I love me some Keyshia Cole and Daniel "Boobie" however, my loyalty is with Keyshia  Ha! I'm a fan of KC.  Hey I'm loyal lol.

Times have changed and normally a mother would have full custody. However now fathers are seeking custody. Some seek because they truly want to spend quality time with their children and then their are the ones who do it for financial reasons i.e to lower child support or eliminate child support period.  Keyshia is very open about her divorce and process. In the video below she talks about her custody battle with Daniel "Boobie" on the Real and I must say she did it respectfully.

How To Make Slime

Braid Out on Natural Hair

I love braid outs!

However, I like to style my braid outs on stretched hair. A light blow-out gives me length. Sometimes I desire length and somedays I don't.

I used my Silverbird hair dryer I purchased last year from Sally Beauty. It's amazing! Yes, a blow dryer can't make a big difference! I learned that the hard way lol.

The Process: 4 braids on each side with perm rods.

Results: A beautiful head full of Natural Hair. Relaxed hair can also achieve great braid out results.

What I wore ?

Watch video below! More pics about what I wore coming soon! Share and subscribe to my YouTube channel for more!

After a full day of humidity here's my results. Fluffy much lol!

Wash Set and Go

I rarely wear a wash n go.  I'm not of fan of the shrinkage. I really wanted to try this product. My intentions was to do a braid out but, it was late and I didn't feel like it. This happens a lot these days

I  love the way my coils pop using the Mane Choice 24k  Glistening Gold Twisting Gel.

I purchased my gel at Sally Beauty. I used a coupon  sent via text message for 30% off! Yep go sign up NOW if you like to save like me! πŸ’°

Excl did not applyπŸ’΅ YES! Lol

How I Color My Hair at Home

So I posted a video sharing how I Color my hair @ home.

As I stated in the video this is my staple color. It never fails me lol. I think the reason why I don't go to a professional is because I'm scared that I won't be satisfied. However, on Instagram I found a colorist in Atlanta, GA that I would love to visit one day. Until then, I can do the job lol. Moisturizing your hair is key.  Spritz your hair with water, apply a leave-in of your choice and your favorite oil and you will experience a happy Color journey!

Here's the video of  my 1st experience with color as a natural: It's definitely a throwback, yet one of my most popular videos:

I uploaded this video  in 2011

Wow! Minus the 2 year break from YouTube I've been making videos for a long time! lol

Have you ever colored your natural hair

My 1st Time Installing Clip-ins

(I colored the hair myself)

Ok, so I just fell in love with clip-ins! I was only sent 1 bundle, but I worked with what I had. That's with anything I do in life lol. No worries, Amazing Beauty Hair Extension is sending me more hair to review.

Hair: Kinky Curly (I actually picked the wrong texture)
Afro Kinky Coily (4C) is the texture I will review in the future.

Fresh out the box ✋🏾

DIY Emoji Stress Balls

My children wanted to make stress balls. πŸ™ƒ We went to our local Dollar Tree and found emoji balloons and play-doh.  My daughter chose the CraZArt brand and she actually prefers this brand. FYI Dollar Tree  does carry the play-doh brand.  We didn't purchase the petroleum jelly "compare to Vaseline " at the Dollar Tree because we forgot to pick it up on that visit lol. Did my children make these for me ? Haaaaa!

Hope you enjoy the video and now you can make your own stress ball! 🏑😎😊

Ross Find

I love Ross! The staff at my local Ross consider me as a frequent shopper. Ross needs a rewards card. I need points lol. Every dollar I spend I need a reward. Let me email the CEO πŸ˜‚.

I almost left it at the store, but it was one of a kind. This particular find was only $11.99.
If I see multiples of a item I don't mind leaving without purchasing. If it's the only one I can't risk the item not being available when I come back.
I absolutely adore this jumper. It's free flowing. My grandmother use to wear pants like this and it's why I purchased it. I wanted something comfy, yet not revealing. The colors were perfect.

LaToya's Life

I finished this book in 2 days.

It was a very good read. It kept me intrigued. I couldn't put the book down. It was interesting to read about her childhood/ teenage years. LaToya overcame quite a few obstacles.  Her life was definitely not perfect. I admire her work ethic. Yes, YouTube is work.  Despite what others thought or didn't understand about YouTube; LaToya remained focus. She was able to grow her channel and establish success!

If you make YouTube videos this book will inspire you! This is definitely a great book for someone who wants to start a channel. LaToya's story will inspire you to cut the camera on and BE YOU! 🎬

I purchased  my book online, because it was sold out at my local bookstore.

Great job LaToya! May you continue to grow! πŸ’‹

From one Toya to another! Great job!
